Exploding Trees?!

🌳❄️ Heard a loud BANG during the deep freeze? No, the trees aren’t actually exploding… but it can sure sound like it.

Extreme cold can cause what people call “exploding trees”—which is really a frost crack. When temperatures drop fast, the outer layer of a tree contracts quicker than the inside, causing the trunk to split with a shockingly loud crack. (Very dramatic. Zero flames.)
These cracks often appear as long vertical splits and can leave trees vulnerable to insects, decay, and future failure once warmer weather rolls in.
If your trees sounded like they were auditioning for an action movie, Tree Line’s certified arborists can inspect the damage and help you decide what needs attention—before small cracks turn into big problems.
Cold weather is tough on trees. Let Tree Line keep yours standing strong. 🌲
